Nina Amelung

Researcher at Institute of Social Sciences (ICS), University of Lisbon. Nina holds a PhD in Sociology and works at the intersection of Science and Technology Studies (STS), Critical Migration, Border and Security Studies. Her research focuses on biometric and digital technologies; how they target and affect marginalized and racialized population groups and how social movements contest and mobilize against datafied migration and border control regimes. Her specific interest in the project fAIces is how civil society organizations advocate for marginalized groups’ rights vis-a-vis artificial intelligence technologies and their regulatory frameworks.
