In the plenary session “AI4Science and Tools for the Science of the Future”, Helena Machado addressed the critical role of public engagement in the design and governance of Artificial Intelligence. She advocated for an interdisciplinary approach that integrates sociology with other scientific fields to ensure that AI development remains socially grounded, inclusive, and ethically informed.
